Meet Head Coach Gwendolyn Alley

An accomplished, published author and  blogger with graduate degrees in English and Education plus undergrad degrees in Literature/Creative Writing and in Environmental Studies, Gwendolyn Alley has 20 years college teaching experience.

Known as a skilled, sensitive, inspiring, unconventional, creative, and passionate teacher, Gwendolyn has taught graduate and undergrad classes in writing, literature, education, and environmental studies as well as yoga and mountaineering.

Gwendolyn has been successful in grant writing, public relations, and marketing for individuals and large institutions. In 2005, Gwendolyn served as a Literary Fellow for the City of Ventura. A third generation Venturan, Gwendolyn lives in Midtown with her family.

The network of Head Coach Gwendolyn Alley includes script writers, small press publishers, journalists, letterpress printers, and more.

A ferocious proofreader and general lover of words, Harmony Eckberg studied English at Humboldt State University and later worked as a newspaper reporter. With experience editing subjects from motorcycle travel writing to food articles, Harmony likes to help professionals who may be experts in their field, but have trouble with the written word. Harmony has been successful in promoting small businesses by writing copy for advertising, newsletters and social networking sites. Harmony lives with her husband and two daughters in Ventura.

Living history performer and local historian Suzanne Lawrence takes oral histories and transcribes family or business stories into narratives for posterity or for performance. She also leads workshops on “Women of the Bible.”

Jason E. Ward received his BA in English from Cal State Channel Islands with an emphasis in technical writing, literature of the environment, and science writing; he also completed a minor degree in Environmental Science and Resource Management. Although he has a continued passion for creative writing, with some minor publishing success, his current focus is studying formal, legal, and professional writing styles. He is addicted to the annual series America’s Best Science and Nature Writing. Jason has a critical eye and loves perusing written works of any style; he can assist in the drafting of documents or help your prose or poetry to sparkle and shine.
